Message from the Board – Joe Watts, President

I received this letter prior to our last Board Meeting. Of the many things we can be proud of in our neighborhood, it is overwhelmingly our employees! They work every day to make our community better. I hope when you see them you too can express your appreciation!

"Last weekend after the hurricane, I think we can all agree that we were very lucky to have “dodged the bullet” when it came to this storm. We all had our share of debris strewn all over and lost limbs but it was nice to see neighbors helping neighbors as we cleaned up our community. The sounds of leaf blowers resounded throughout Carolina Shores..

I went over to the pool that Sunday following the storm to put my feet up and relax after our own personal 2 days of cleaning up and I was pleasantly surprised to see that the entire pool surface had been skimmed off and the deck area all cleaned up. All that remained was debris at the bottom of the pool. Someone had spent the entire morning, single handedly, cleaning  our pool. When I mentioned that she was going beyond what she needed to do, that the pool company would come to vacuum, she simply said she “wanted the pool to be able to breathe”. Along with one lone swimmer, we were the only ones there that day and I thought she did something pretty spectacular, as well as exhausting, on her own!!

So at this time I’d like to acknowledge and give "Kudos!"  to Nancy Leab, one of our pool attendants, who went over and beyond her call of duty. She deserves a huge THANK YOU for her hard work and dedication Sunday morning and afternoon and though out the season.

Now that the summer has come to an end, I know we are all grateful for Kelly and all the pool attendants who spend their days overseeing the cleanliness of the pool, pool deck and bathrooms. Thank you to all of them as well!"

Well said Nancy Larkin!

ACC Corner – Joe Rochel, ACC Chairperson

I am hopeful every homeowner has made it through the recent Hurricane safely and managed to clean up your property without too much difficulty. I commend the homeowners that assisted your neighbors during this recent event. I have always believed we live in a beautiful community for both the beauty of the homes, as well as the neighbors that reach out to help each other. I applaud all these homeowners that helped. Thank you from my heart for being great neighbors.

The most recent issue of headwall repairs is going well. I am pleased I could help explain the importance of repairing the headwalls on your driveways. I am always willing to help any homeowner locate a mason to do the repairs for you. Please reach out to the ACC office for any assistance you may need Thanks.

As always, I would appreciate the help from every homeowner to request a permit for any work you need to have done on the outside. Remember these permits are totally free from the CSPOA office. Also, please pick up a permit or call the office for all moving, storage or construction containers/trailers. CSPOA does not always issue a permit for all storage on the driveway; the CSPOA office will assist if you call for additional information. Remember, there is never parking of vehicles or containers allowed on the grass area of your yard. This is a violation of the Rules and Regulations. Thank you.

My note to new homeowners as well as existing homeowners, The ACC office is willing to assist and answer all questions of the Rules and Regulations. Please do make use of my offer. I have started holding seminars twice a year to help all homeowners understand the Declaration of Restrictions and Rules and Regulations. Typically, I hold these during the months of September and March. Please look for the notices in the Bulletin as well as e-mail from the CSPOA office.

Now my favorite issue for Gardening for all homeowners this month of November is a suggestion from my lifelong quest. I hope all like my recommendations: here are just a few for this month. At this point you should have put down the Fall/Winter fertilizer/weed prevention mix. The leaves are falling along with pine straw, so to keep a healthy lawn it is recommended to rake up these items to prevent the grass from dying off over winter. There are some trees/shrubs that do best to trim during November thru January. They are Crape Myrtles, Azaleas and certain evergreen shrubs. There are too many to list in the evergreens, winter mulch on young shrubs is always good to protect the new roots. Mostly there is not that much to take care of during these three months. If you keep the grass clear and the planting beds clean, then spring will reward you with pleasant flowers and green grass. I wish everyone a Blessed Thanksgiving and Wonderful Christmas Holiday. Thanks to everyone.
